Ambitious Goal Keeping Skills and Health
In reaction to Jason Silvestri’s video on health, I will relate my own experience.
Jason talks about not eating healthy enough. He realizes how important it is to eat well as he pushes himself through 24-36 hour work days. He is committing to better eating habits. V8 isn’t his favorite drink but he’s trying to consume it in place of coffee and soda! I have a similar problem-I gag while I swallow a multi-vitamin. We should be accountability buddies and check in soon to see how each of us are doing with our eating habits!
As a person with many of my own ambitious goals, I fell short. I would get mad at myself because there was so much I wanted to accomplish in a day but fell flat on my face. Why? Mainly, it was because I wasn’t eating right. I had my list of goals ready for the day but ran out of energy by midday. I would skip breakfast, not have a healthy fulfilling lunch, and my appetite would be raging by dinner time. My mind was fighting with my stomach over who would win. Eventually, my mind fizzled out for the day. Even though I could push myself to stay up and do work, I knew I wasn’t top notch nor was I doing high quality work. I compromised my work ethics by maintaining poor eating habits.
Solution? My friend gave me great advice about the 40, 40, 20 rule. Every meal should consist of 40% carbs, 40% protein, and 20% fat. Another friend gave me the strong analogy that a wholesome amount of protein should be the size of a deck of cards!
Bottom Line: If you love your goals and you realize you’re mortal, then you’re going to have to commit to your health now!
I am very impressed with the article I have just read!
