Well, content producers are the ones feeding these content consumers!

As a content producer, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of social media outlets.  I believe social media outlets are there to build relationships and facilitate conversations.  However, before you can even do these things, you need something to talk about!

As a content producer, what should I talk about?

Okay, I’m going to tell you to go offline with your laptop!  Before you get caught up in how many followers you have on twitter, or who’s ‘facebooking’ you, take 2 steps back.

  1. Did you find your niche yet?  Once you know what niche you want to build on, you can start building content around this.
  2. Stop following what everyone is saying and doing.  Marketing analysts wouldn’t agree with me but I do have a point!
  3. Dig deep down inside and start contextualizing your original ideas around your specific niche. Content producers, your ideas spawn in words before taking any other form
  4. Write your heart out!  When you have enough content, you can start putting it up on your blog.  Content rich blogs always are more pleasing to visitors than bland, bleak sites.

Just a few weeks ago, my wordpress blog became unstable.  I’m not sure if it was due to a new template that I had installed, a wordpress update, or plugins that made my site unstable.  My wordpress blog became so unstable that I could not even publish a post properly.  Something as fluid as posting a blog post was taking dozens of minutes. As silly as this sounds, my blog was getting plugged up and not working!  I became so teary-eyed that I began to crash and burn with my blog!  But then I got smart on a few things and vowed to follow this routine:

  1. Type all my blogs in Microsoft® Word, save them on a USB and harddrive.
  2. Copy and paste my blog post from Microsoft® Word into Wordpress.
  3. Backup my Wordpress posts from Wordpress’ back end in Tools > Export.
  4. Use my website hosting’s Control Panel (a.ka. cPanel) to create backup files of my website. (My hosting account automatically does a daily system back up of my websites).
  5. Make sure I backup my websites before upgrading to a new version of Wordpress.
  6. Research plugins before installing and activating them on my site.

Let’s take my websites for instance.

I have 5 domains that I’m trying to develop.  Currently, I’m building SanaAhmed.com as my professional niche.  It’s my live portfolio of my professional skills.  Everything I talk about on SanaAhmed.com will be about what I know to get ahead in the professional career scope.

I also have a creative niche in which I love to free-write.  I absolutely love writing for leisure.  I plan to publish my free writing on IntellectualHedonist.com, a creative space for me on the web.  I hope to freely conversate with others here on creative dialogues.

I’ll let you in on another secret: I have separate twitter accounts and facebook fan pages for each website.  It’s wonderful.  I have the liberty to tweet about my niches on separate accounts.  My thoughts flow in an organized way and my social media efforts follow this lead!
